The University of Nebraska Medical Center conducted this study to anticipate the need for certain professionals in different regions of the state and to help prepare to meet those needs, particularly in rural communities. There are 86 hospitals in Nebraska, 71 of which are located in rural areas. The Nebraska Rural Health Association is working to ensure that healthcare available in rural communities remains available and of superior quality.
